The Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering features a multidisciplinary faculty having a broad spectrum of interests in biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biosystems engineering, and food science. The department's strong basic and applied research programs and its active, internationally recognized faculty combine to provide students with exciting learning opportunities

The Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology program is a new interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science degree program designed to educate students in the exciting area of biotechnology. This emerging field promises to be the predominant Bioscience of the early 21st century. In their senior year students may choose reasearch topics from five specializations:

* Plant Biotechnology
* Insect and Pathogen Biotechnology
* Environmental and Microbial Biotechnology
* Aquaculture and Bioreactor Biotechnology
